In total, 24 beams were transported from Kootstertille to the PAX Group site in Heerenveen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With lengths of 55 meters and weights nearing 150 tons, the operation naturally came with plenty of challenges. Because certain lampposts couldn\u2019t be removed and some bridges weren\u2019t strong enough to support such loads, detours were often necessary. Thanks to thorough preparation, the route was meticulously prepped to ensure a smooth journey \u2014 temporary removal of traffic signs, lampposts, flagpoles, and fences; installation of extra lighting; tree pruning; and the placement of steel road plates along critical stretches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transport was expertly carried out by&nbsp;W. van der Meijden Transport&nbsp;and&nbsp;E. Lafeber Internationale Transporten BV. Each night, four combinations each 70 meters long(!) made two round trips under escort, bringing eight beams per night to Heerenveen. There, the beams were unloaded using two telescopic cranes from&nbsp;Wagenborg Nedlift&nbsp;and four riggers from&nbsp;PAX Group.
