Under the watchful eyes of many local residents, the tower was carefully dismantled as quickly as possible. Today, the section containing the clock was removed. The two lower parts of the tower were transported through Marktstraat, Dijkstraat, and Bargefenne to the Stoombootkade, where they were lifted onto a cargo vessel. The tower measures nine metres in height and weighs around 150 tons, and was therefore removed in three separate sections.
