Transport of 6-metre-wide Japanese bridge

Today, a complete 21-metre-long bridge arrived and was installed in Hasselt, Belgium. The bicycle bridge is destined for the largest Japanese garden in Europe. Due to its 6-metre width, the transport from Heerenveen had to take place at night.

The 20-tonne bridge was manufactured by Groot Lemmer in Heerenveen. Using an overhead crane and two truck-mounted cranes, the bridge was loaded yesterday morning onto a five-axle semi low-loader. After several sections of driving against traffic, the removal of traffic signs, and two rounds of police escort, the transport successfully reached Hasselt.

Thanks to thorough route research, the entire journey went smoothly. The site inspection carried out beforehand also ensured that the installation location was perfectly prepared according to plan.
