Oversized silo transport with very special assistance

Last Wednesday and Thursday, two silos were transported from Drachten to Heerenveen. This transport wasn’t just special because of the massive size of the cargo—it also had a very special assistant on board.

A dream

Jonas (7 years old) has a huge fascination with low-loaders. In his eyes, no vehicle can match the power and precision of a low-loader. And no matter how many excavator operators, police officers, or firefighters try to change his mind—Jonas stays true to his dream: he’s going to be a low-loader driver.

That passion led Jonas’s parents to contact PAX Construction and Industrial Services.
“We immediately thought of PAX—transporters of the impossible. PAX responded enthusiastically to our message. Wow! On November 23rd, we got an email saying Jonas could join an evening ride from Drachten to Heerenveen. The late time (9:00 PM) didn’t bother him one bit. When we told him the news that afternoon, he could hardly wait. Overalls on, boots laced up, and off we went!”

A lasting impression

On Wednesday afternoon, two large silos were unloaded from a ship at De Lier in Drachten. The first silo hit the road that evening, the second followed on Thursday night. Because it was an oversized load, the transport had to take place after dark. In Drachten, Jonas and his father were invited into the cab with the “super friendly” driver, Jappie. Before the convoy set off, Jonas even got to switch on the escort vehicle’s flashing lights.

According to Jonas’s parents, the experience left a serious impression:
“Jonas is hardly ever quiet, but that night, he barely said a word. Maybe it was the late hour, but we think it just hit him so hard he couldn’t find the words. Driving slowly, going against traffic, the flashing lights, radio chatter, the cars pulled over—it was an incredible ride we’ll be talking about for a long time. Thank you, PAX, for this unforgettable experience!”

Jonas, thank you for your help! Just a few more years till you’re 18, then get that license, because we’d love to see a future driver like you behind the wheel at PAX Group!
