PAX celebrates its 100th anniversary in grand style

On Wednesday, March 15, it was exactly one hundred years since the first license plate was registered to Pieter Plantinga — founder of logistics service provider PAX Group. This day marked the start of a special centennial year filled with festivities and activities, including the unveiling of the anniversary trailer for employees at all branches.

Pieter Plantinga worked as a farm laborer but made the switch to transport in 1923. With his Ford TT Truck, he provided local delivery services between Dokkum, Kollum, Groningen, and Leeuwarden. With some careful measuring, he could just fit one cow and a calf. The number of customers kept growing, partly thanks to the trade in wood and peat, which led his brother Jan Hendrikus Plantinga to join the company in the early 1930s.

In 1952, PAX moved to Leeuwarden and expanded its operations to include international transport, earthmoving, lifting services, corporate relocations, and specialized transport.

Today, 100 years later, Sjoerd Plantinga — the third generation — leads the company. PAX remains a close-knit family business with locations in Leeuwarden, Heerenveen, and Joure. NABEK and VETRA are also part of the PAX Group, with offices in Hoogezand and Alphen aan den Rijn.
